So, this past weekend, I had a little project I worked on. I was at the store a few weeks ago and saw these “do-it-yourself” greenhouse projects. First, let me explain, that by no measure do I have a green thumb… in fact, I am quite the opposite. However, there was a lady next to me at the store who said these were foolproof… We shall see. Anyway, I purchased two kits and some seeds that said easy to grow (I figure, don’t risk it. Make it as easy as possible!).
As you can see, everything came in a nice kit that all I had to do was open (again, these things are not child proof, they are adult proof… eventually I got it open!).
The kits even included “soil”. It was in the form of a pellet. All you had to do was add water to the pellet and it would expand to fit the planter. How cool is that? It was even cooler if you used to love the expanding dinosaurs as a kid? Am I the only one who loved those?
Anyway, once the “soil” had filled out, I simply added my seeds… I bought violas for two reasons. First, it said they were easy to grow. To me, easy to grow also translates into hard to kill (definitely a plus for your Kill Bill gardener here). Second, I adore the smell of violas!
After adding my seeds, I put the plastic lids on and moved the planters to a protected, somewhat sunny spot and will let them sit for a while, and just check to see if I need to add water.
Hopefully when they are grown, they will look like this:
As much fun as I had planting these, I think Sadie had more fun just hanging around outside and watching me work!
Anyway, I will keep you posted on how the violas grow! Hope everyone is having a great week so far!
